Intro about me

I’m Miquel Luque

Architecture student

Welcome to my website, here you will find a selection of different academic projects that I have developed with different work teams and all the different stages of learning that I have been achieving. You can also find information about my life related to judo. I hope you like it.

I am currently studying architecture at Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura del Vallès (Sant Cugat). Through these last 6 years I have had the opportunity to learn and extend my knowledge beyond the proper architecture studies. By 2012, I passed the 1st Belt Dan black test, by 2015 and 2016, I had the opportunity to participate in judo world championships, in 2016 I completed the studies to be a 1st level judo monitor.

Architecture & judo

At present, I could say that I have two completely different parallel lives. On the one hand we find that architecture is the way I have chosen to have a professional background. On the other hand we have judo, a sport with which I started at 4 years and that more than a hobby has become a lifestyle.

I have had to combine both modalities over the last 6 years, so as not to die in any way. Judo has helped me to have an escape route and therefore of disconnection at moments of maximum tension in the degree. Due to the high demand of time, from my point of view, who asked for the architecture career, I was forced to have to temporarily leave the world of the competition. This has led me to know a new face of judo. Currently, I've been teaching, learning and learning this sport from the base to competitors who have participated in state events for some years.

This change has meant an academic improvement in terms not only of qualifications, but also of assimilated knowledge and the return of interest to architecture since I have been able to focus much more.

What about architecture

Structures Restoration & Urbanism

The main concerns and therefore points of interest that the architecture transmits me are directly related to the title. By my way of working, I identify myself with the scope of the structures, since at the conceptual level I have a greater ease for numerical calculations and to understand and read how they are made and how buildings are built.

On the other hand, I was especially interested in the rehabilitation due to a subject given to the ETSAV (Analysis Consolidation and Reinforcement of Existing Structures) since it allowed me to see another way of approaching the architecture that It was not from the new construction.

Finally, urbanism appears as the desire to improve the conditions of urban space in the city so that pedestrians and public transport versus the consolidation of the private vehicle can be more important.

And now what?

What about my future?

From now on when the degree finishes, my vision of the nearest future focuses on making the master enabling me here in the school in the meantime that I continue as a judo coach. If you give yourself the opportunity to enter work in an architecture office in the mornings I would like to be able to do these practices to continue learning about the trade. In a vision of the farthest future, what I have in mind is to be able to dedicate myself to the profession of architect for the mornings and in the afternoons to have my own club of judo and in this way to be able to put in between the two passions that I have.

I do not know for sure if it is possible, and we will have to wait for the time to check it, but one thing I am sure will fight to achieve my dream and I will not stop until I get it, and probably to get there You have to overcome a lot of obstacles, and as Sylvester Stallone said when he played Rocky Balboa in the movie Rocky VI: "You know what you're doing and get what you deserve, but you'll have to endure the blows. And you cannot be saying that you are not where you wanted to arrive because of him, from her or from anyone, that the cowards do and you are not. You are capable of everything.”
